Is anyone looking at why toca 3 crashes whilst ripping to hd using anything less than 074 and wven using 074 you cannot play the game from HDD and 3 backups later from DVD-r still no go on world tour, ther are 5 very long filenames made up of numbers.
And explanation of this protection at xbox scene would indicate this is gonna take some time to rectify (fix).
This would have killed loads of my original discs by now if this had of come out very early on in the xboxes life. Seems codemasters have studied well. |

This protection is well known but not easy to fix. You have to find the occurrence of the long filenames in the xbe's and patch it to the shorten name which dvd2xbox gaves them.
Unfortunately the developers know how to camouflage the names in the xbe to make it difficult. |

especially when one of the 5 file names is like this
01566257402957006257349845861827402934985700405556228485127084850156625740295700
and now i shall return my codemasters game and tell the shop it is faulty, and that because of the fault my xbox no longer works properly, and i will now have to buy another xbox, and to codemasters themselves, I will never ever buy another one of your games no matter what platform it comes on, as i must be able to backup my originals OR offer me a lifetime of replacement for cost of postage. As my original discs would get hammered from kids, pets, and me when i am drunk.
so Codemasters go back to being budget £1.99 mastertronic. |

could you implement and iso ripper into dvd2xbox, one that splits the files in to chunks for fat32x file size limite 4 gig, like fat32..
As i have eventually been able to backup using drive image utils, the iso ripper bit, but it has no interface and it is not without problems, i e it wojld not run rip on my samsung drives, but would on my thomson, eventually backed it up on dvd-r, file size is 4 gig though it has info in the headers of iso to tell it the size of the disc it came off. |

I plan to implement extract-iso to build ISO images from DVDs but no eta yet but it will write an ISO in one chunk and only via SMB because fatx has a file limit of 2GB.
Update: read the toca thread on X-S. Seems to be that I'm wrong and the limit is still 4GB. Would be nice to get the sources of the ripper.xbe ;-) |

the sources are in the zip, which i just DL @ "the usual places" ;)
i DL "driveimageutils v101" and inside is a folder called "sources". :D
take a look at "backup.c", maybe this is helpful
there is no GUI yet, but as said on XS you have to wait until it has finished copying.
If you could add this 2 DVD2Xbox it´d be cool!
Greetings from Franken! |

| Thanks, didn't had the time to look into it but this is worth. I guess it's simple sector wise copy process (which I have implemented already for testing purpose). But anyway worth a look to get some ideas. |

was gonna tell you src included, some beat me to it, havent been in here for a few days as building up a few computers.
in flash fxp after txing the part 1 you see flash fxp reckons part 1 located still on xbox is -2057 gig and i understood what your were saying about fat32 fat32x 2 gig, as when you try to download say linux iso, in windows and its above 2 gig you cannot. |

| I implemented the iso ripper sources and it seems to work with 4GB on fatx. I thought this wouldn't be possible. |

| No. All copy protection related issue to get a backup running should be addressed at X-S. |

|
|
All i did was back it up to hdd on xbox(it renamed the 5 files), connected to my pc and used quix to make a iso of the folder from f/games/V8 super cars 3 and saved it to my pc hdd.
Used quix again to extract the files from the iso, save them where ever u will find them, went to the files and one by one added the 38 or so numbers back onto each the five folders that were changed.
Used quix again this time to make another iso(just save over the last one you did when u were putting it on hdd), burn it to dvd and it worked for me(to get the last 38 numbers for each file just set xbox not to load games automatically, start xbox again and use your pc with flash fxp this time and go to d drive).
p.s i hope i helped, my kids were scratching the crap out of it for 2 months, took me a few hours to figure it out but i glad i did, love the game, woulda been devastated if they stuffed it lol. |
